For 18 years, Y-Thrift (Our Sisters’ Closet) has been about one thing first: making sure YWCA Oklahoma City clients have access to essentials like clothing, shoes, and household items at no cost, when they need them most.
When we opened in April 2007, the heart of the mission was clear: dignity, stability, and support through practical help. Over time, Y-Thrift also became a way for the wider community to join that mission. By opening our doors to the public, every purchase helped fund YWCA OKC programs and services, creating an even bigger ripple of support.
As of New Year’s Eve 2025, Y-Thrift has officially closed as a public store. Moving forward, we are transitioning to an on-site model focused on serving YWCA OKC clients, so essential items can be accessed more directly alongside the services and support they are already receiving.
To everyone who donated, shopped, volunteered, shared our posts, and showed up for this mission over the years, thank you. You helped make sure someone had interview clothes. School shoes. A warm coat. A set of dishes. A fresh start. You made a real impact, one bag and one purchase at a time.
As we transition, our Y-Thrift social media pages will remain active so we can share next steps with our community. Donations are currently paused, but we plan to resume donations in 2026, with donations being received at YWCA OKC’s administrative office. We will share dates and details as soon as they are finalized.
This is not the end of the mission. It is a shift in how we deliver it.
With deep gratitude,
Y-Thrift + YWCA Oklahoma City
